In Steam Raiders, players descend from the surface into the underground, where traps and enemies become increasingly dangerous as they go deeper. Falling from high places causes damage, so be careful not to lose footing.
🚩 Checkpoints
Each level features checkpoints that light up when passed. These serve as respawn points when restarting after death.
🏆 Depth and Leaderboard
Displays the current depth of the player. In this world, reaching greater depths is considered a mark of honor.
The leaderboard lists the depths of all active players, ranking those at the greatest depths at the top.
❤️ Life (HP) Management
A life gauge is displayed on the screen, allowing players to monitor their health. Falling from heights or touching hazardous gimmicks will result in damage.
⚠️ Gimmicks and Traps
Various gimmicks and traps are scattered throughout the dungeon. Unstable paths and narrow bridges can collapse underfoot, while damage gimmicks include doors and iron blocks that harm players upon contact. Additionally, some movement-based gimmicks, like iron bars that require precise timing to cross, demand careful planning and quick reflexes.
⚔️ Combat
Inside the caves, enemy robots will attack players. Defeating these robots may drop items and GOLD, the in-game currency. Boss characters also appear, requiring cooperation with other players to overcome. Defeating a boss unlocks certain doors and allows progress further into the game.
☠️ Player Death and Penalties
When the player’s life reaches zero, they die and restart from the surface (0m). Upon death, a Cairn (grave) appears near the checkpoint closest to the death location. This cairn stores half of the player’s GOLD and all items they were carrying.
🔄 Player Revival and Item Recovery
After restarting, players can retrieve their lost items and GOLD by reaching their cairn. However, items cannot be recovered if the inventory is full. If the player dies again before reaching the cairn, the previous cairn disappears, and the stored items and GOLD are lost permanently.
💰 In-Game Currency: GOLD
Players can purchase items using GOLD from surface shops and merchant NPCs encountered during exploration.
The “SHOP” button on the screen also offers items purchasable with Robux (this option is hidden at launch).

🎒 Items
Items can be used by equipping them. Consumable items appear in the hotbar at the bottom of the screen and can be activated by clicking or tapping the icon. Weapons and armor, when equipped, display their icons in the ARMOR window, where players can see changes in their parameters.
Items can be obtained through various means, such as shop purchases, conversations with NPCs, quest completions, and drops from defeated enemy robots.
Field items dropped by enemies or players will disappear after a certain period, so picking them up quickly is important.
✨ Special Items
Some items possess unique properties. Blessed items are not stored in the cairn upon death, while soulbound items cannot be dropped or transferred to other players.
The Skyward Compass is an essential item required to return to the surface. It can be acquired through shop purchases or enemy drops.
🎫 Player Pass
Player Passes grant special effects when purchased.
“Bank Access” allows players to store items and GOLD on the surface. This pass is valid for 30 days after purchase. To continue using it, players must purchase it again after expiration.
“Inventory +5” increases the player’s inventory capacity by 5 slots. This effect is permanent and can be purchased up to four times.
Players can check their Player Pass purchase status from the “PASS” button on the top menu.
⚡ Escape
Due to the complex terrain of the game; players may occasionally get stuck while moving or battling enemies.
If a player becomes stuck and unable to move, pressing the “ESCAPE” button in the top menu will instantly teleport them to their last checkpoint without any penalties.
The “ESCAPE” button can only be used after a certain cooldown period.
